Legends for Charity®
Honoring Legacy and Saving Lives
From Luncheon to Premier Super Bowl Event
From Luncheon to Premier Super Bowl Event
Legends for Charity® began as a luncheon and has since transformed into one of the most significant charity dinners held during Super Bowl Weekend. The event’s core spirit reflects the values and heart of Pat Summerall, providing a unique occasion where broadcasters from all networks unite to celebrate and honor one of their own.
Pat Summerall had a deep affection for this event and took even greater pride in knowing that his name was contributing to saving lives. His unmistakable baritone voice and enduring legacy continue to thrive through this event and touch every child who enters St. Jude. It has become the unofficial opening of the biggest weekend in professional sports. The evening combines the celebration of the honoree including video tributes and guest speakers and the life saving mission of this one of a kind hospital.
St. Jude has played a vital role as a national charity and has been integrated into the NFL’s biggest weekend for the past two decades, serving as the official charity partner of the Legends for Charity® dinner. Through this partnership, the dinner has introduced the sports broadcasting community and numerous NFL players to the important mission of St. Jude, further expanding its reach and impact.

PAT SUMMERALL
The Pat Summerall Award was created to honor a national broadcaster or prominent sports personality who exemplified the characteristics Pat Summerall wanted the award to represent – an individual who has had an outstanding career and who has made a significant impact in their community. Commencing at Super Bowl XL in Detroit in 2006, Pat Summerall personally chose the honoree and presented the award in person annually during Super Bowl Weekend until his death in 2013.
Kevin Burkhardt, Lead NFL Play-By-Play Announcer and MLB Studio Host, FOX Sports, has been selected as the 22nd recipient of the coveted Pat Summerall Award for the 2027 Legends for Charity Dinner, taking place on Thursday, February 11, 2027 (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM) at the NFL Headquarters hotel, JW Marriott Downtown Los Angeles L.A.
